Thalapathy Vijay, who is currently awaiting the release of his 67th film Leo, has already started shooting for his next project with director Venkat Prabhu. The film, which is tentatively titled Thalapathy 68, is produced by AGS Entertainment and has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja.
The film went on floors on October 2 with a pooja ceremony in Chennai. Venkat Prabhu took to his social media page to share the news and said that the cast and crew details will be announced after Leo’s release. He also said that the film will be a fun roller coaster ride for the fans.

According to some sources, the film has some new additions to the star cast, which are not officially confirmed yet. The sources claim that the film will feature Prabhudeva, Mohan, Prashanth, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Sneha and Jayaram in important roles.
Prabhudeva, who is a renowned actor, dancer and director, has reportedly been roped in to play the main antagonist in the film. He was last seen in Tamil cinema in Pon Manickavel (2020), where he played a cop. He is also directing Salman Khan’s Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai, which is slated to release in 2023.
Mohan, who is a veteran actor and singer, is said to play Vijay’s father in the film. He is best known for his films such as Mouna Ragam (1986), Payanangal Mudivathillai (1982) and Idhayam (1991). He was last seen in Nenjam Marappathillai (2021), where he played a negative role.
Prashanth, who is also a popular actor and producer, is rumored to play Vijay’s brother in the film. He has acted in films such as Jeans (1998), Star (2001) and Winner (2003). He is currently working on his comeback film Andhagan, which is a remake of Andhadhun (2018).
Meenakshi Chaudhary, who is a former beauty queen and model, is speculated to play the female lead opposite Vijay in the film. She made her acting debut in Telugu cinema with Savyasachi (2018) and has also acted in Hindi web series The Holiday (2019). She will be seen next in Hanu-Man, a superhero film directed by Prasanth Varma.
Sneha, who is a well-known actress and dancer, is reportedly playing a pivotal role in the film. She has acted in several Tamil films such as Autograph (2004), Pudhupettai (2006) and Velaikkaran (2017). She was last seen in Pattas (2020), where she played Dhanush’s wife.
Jayaram, who is a versatile actor and comedian, is said to play a comic role in the film. He has acted in many Malayalam and Tamil films such as Thenali (2000), Panchathanthiram (2002) and Bhaskar Oru Rascal (2018). He was last seen in Namma Veettu Pillai (2019), where he played Sivakarthikeyan’s uncle.
Thalapathy 68 is expected to be a mass entertainer with elements of action, comedy and romance. The film will have cinematography by Sakthi Saravanan and editing by Praveen K.L. The film’s release date is yet to be announced.
