Actor and comedian Soori, who impressed the audience and critics with his intense role in Vetrimaaran’s Viduthalai – Part 1, is all set to work with the acclaimed filmmaker again. However, this time, Vetrimaaran will not be directing the film, but will be providing the story and screenplay for a new project titled Karudan.
Karudan, which means black bull in Tamil, will be directed by Durai Senthil Kumar, who has previously helmed films like Ethir Neechal, Kodi and Kakki Sattai. The film will also feature Sasikumar and Unni Mukundan as the lead actors, along with Samuthirakani, Sshivada, Mime Gopi and Rajendran in supporting roles.
The film was officially launched in Kumbakonam on Monday with a pooja ceremony attended by the cast and crew. The film is produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu under his banner V Creations. The music for the film will be composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, who has also collaborated with Vetrimaaran for his upcoming films Viduthalai – Part 2 and Vaadi Vaasal.
The genre and plot of Karudan are yet to be revealed, but it is expected to be a rural entertainer with a strong social message. Soori, who is known for his comic timing and witty dialogues, will be seen in a different avatar in this film, as he did in Viduthalai – Part 1. The actor has been undergoing physical transformation and training for his role in Karudan.
Karudan is expected to hit the screens in 2024. The fans of Soori and Vetrimaaran are eagerly waiting for this film, as they hope to witness another masterpiece from the duo.
