Actor Cillian Murphy has revealed that he read the Bhagavad Gita as part of his preparation for playing J. Robert Oppenheimer in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film, Oppenheimer.

Murphy said that he found the Bhagavad Gita to be a beautiful and inspiring text that provided consolation to Oppenheimer throughout his life.

“I think it was a real source of strength for him,” Murphy said. “It helped him to understand the nature of duty and the importance of acting in accordance with one’s conscience, even when it is difficult.”

Oppenheimer was a theoretical physicist who led the development of the atomic bomb during World War II. He is often credited with being the “father of the atomic bomb.”

The film, Oppenheimer, is a historical drama based on a Pulitzer Prize-winning book. It also stars Robert Downey Jr., Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, and Florence Pugh.

The film is scheduled to be released on July 21, 2023.
