Kanguva: Producer Dhananjayan reveals interesting details about Suriya’s magnum opus

Kanguva, starring Suriya in five roles, is one of the most awaited movies of 2024. Producer Dhananjayan shares some exciting details about the film and its prospects in the Hindi market and other regions.

Kanguva, the upcoming period action drama film starring Suriya in the lead role, is one of the most anticipated movies of 2024. The film, directed by Siva and written by Adi Narayana, is produced by K. E. Gnanavel Raja, V. Vamsi Krishna Reddy and Pramod Uppalapati under the banners of Studio Green and UV Creations. The film features Suriya in five roles, spanning different time periods from ancient to modern times. The film also marks the Tamil debut of actress Disha Patani, who plays the female lead opposite Suriya.

In a recent interview, producer Dhananjayan revealed some interesting details about the film and its prospects. He said that the historical portions of the film will be major and the contemporary portions will be less. He added that the film has a strong content and a universal appeal that can attract audiences across India and abroad. He also expressed his confidence that Kanguva can do well in the Hindi market, as Suriya is a well-known actor in North India and has a loyal fan base there. He cited the examples of Baahubali and KGF, which were successful in Hindi despite being made in regional languages.

Kanguva Glimpse

Dhananjayan also said that after the positive reception of the first glimpse of Kanguva, which was released on Suriya’s birthday on July 23, 2023, they have decided to dub the film into six more languages apart from Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi and English. He said that the film will also be dubbed into Bhojpuri, Gujarati, Punjabi, Bengali, Odia and Marathi, to cater to a wider audience and to showcase the rich culture and history of India. He said that the dubbing process is underway and they are planning to release the film in all these languages simultaneously.

Kanguva is touted to be one of the most expensive Indian films ever made, with a budget of ₹350 crore (US$44 million). The film has been shot in various locations such as Chennai, Goa, Kerala and Kodaikanal. The film boasts of a stellar technical crew, including Devi Sri Prasad as the music director, Vetri Palanisamy as the cinematographer and Nishadh Yusuf as the editor. The film is expected to be released in early 2024 in 2D as well as 3D formats.
