The much-awaited promo of Suriya’s upcoming film Kanguva is all set to release on July 22, Saturday. The film, directed by Siruthai Siva, is touted to be a period action drama that features Suriya in five different roles. The film also marks the Tamil debut of Bollywood actress Disha Patani, who plays the female lead.
Kanguva, which means “man with the power of fire”, is one of the most expensive Indian films ever made, with a budget of ₹350 crore (US$44 million). The film is produced by K. E. Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green and V. Vamsi Krishna Reddy and Pramod Uppalapati of UV Creations. The film has music by Devi Sri Prasad, cinematography by Vetri Palanisamy and editing by Nishadh Yusuf.
The film is expected to release in early 2024 in 2D as well as 3D formats and in 10 languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada, Bengali, Marathi, Gujarati, Punjabi and English. The film’s title and first look poster were unveiled in April 2023, creating a huge buzz among the fans and the industry.
According to the official synopsis, the film revolves around a warrior who dies due to a disease in 1678 and a girl who does research on the disease in the present day. The film promises to showcase Suriya in a different avatar through Siruthai Siva’s vision. The film also stars Yogi Babu, Redin Kingsley, Kovai Sarala, Anandaraj, Ravi Raghavendra, K. S. Ravikumar and B. S. Avinash in supporting roles.
