Kaathal – The Core: Mammootty and Jyothika’s film gets U/A certificate, to release in November | Mammootty Kampany

Kaathal – The Core, the upcoming Malayalam drama film starring Mammootty and Jyothika in the lead roles, has completed its censor formalities and received a U/A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The film, which is directed by Jeo Baby and produced by Mammootty under his banner Mammootty Kampany, has a runtime of 2 hours and 13 minutes. According to reports, the film is slated to hit the screens in November this year.

Kaathal – The Core marks the third Malayalam film of Jyothika, who is one of the most popular actresses in Tamil cinema. She has previously acted in two Malayalam movies – Priyadarshan’s Raakkilipattu and TK Rajeevkumar’s Seetha Kalyanam, which had her starring opposite Jayaram. She is making a comeback to Malayalam cinema after a gap of 12 years with Kaathal – The Core, where she plays the wife of Mammootty’s character.

Mammootty, who is one of the most versatile and prolific actors in Indian cinema, was last seen in the neo-noir psychological thriller Rorschach, which received critical acclaim and commercial success. He has several other projects in his kitty, such as Christopher, Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam, and Bilal. Kaathal – The Core is his first collaboration with Jeo Baby, who is known for his acclaimed films like The Great Indian Kitchen and Kilometers and Kilometers.

The film also features Jisshu Sengupta, Muthumani, Chinnu Chandni, Sudhi Kozhikode, Anagha Akku and others in supporting roles. The music of the film is composed by Mathews Pulickan, while the cinematography is handled by Salu K. Thomas and the editing by Francies Louis. The film was shot in Kochi and Ernakulam in a span of one month. Suriya, who is the husband of Jyothika, visited the sets of the film when it was being shot in Ernakulam.

The first look poster of the film was unveiled by Mammootty on his Twitter handle on October 18, 2022, on the occasion of Jyothika’s 44th birthday. The poster showed a close-up of Mammootty and Jyothika’s faces with a heart-shaped symbol between them. The poster also revealed the tagline of the film – “Love is not just a feeling, it’s a core”. The poster received a positive response from the fans and celebrities alike, who expressed their excitement to watch the film on the big screen.

Kaathal – The Core is expected to be a family drama that explores the relationship between a married couple and their struggles in life. The film promises to showcase the chemistry between Mammootty and Jyothika, who are sharing screen space for the first time.
