Dhruv Vikram to star in Mari Selvaraj’s kabaddi-based film set in Thoothukudi

Mari Selvaraj, the talented filmmaker who delivered a blockbuster hit with Maamannan, is all set to start his next project with Dhruv Vikram, the son of superstar Vikram. The film will be a sports drama based on the life of a kabaddi player from Thoothukudi, a coastal town in Tamil Nadu.

According to sources, the film will be set in the 1990s and will showcase the struggles and achievements of a young man who dreams of becoming a kabaddi champion. Dhruv Vikram, who made his debut with the critically acclaimed Adithya Varma, will play the lead role of the kabaddi player. He has reportedly undergone rigorous training in kabaddi and has also learnt the local dialect of Thoothukudi for his role.

The film will also feature an ensemble cast of supporting actors, who will play the roles of the family members, friends and rivals of the protagonist. The details of the cast and crew are yet to be announced by the makers. The film is expected to go on floors by the end of August and will be shot in various locations in and around Thoothukudi.

Mari Selvaraj, who is known for his realistic and hard-hitting films, has said that he was inspired by the real-life story of Manathi Ganesan, a kabaddi player from Thoothukudi who won several national and international awards for his sport. He has also said that he wants to highlight the importance of kabaddi, which is one of the oldest and most popular games in India.

The film will be produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin, who also starred in Maamannan as a politician. Udhayanidhi has expressed his confidence in Mari Selvaraj’s vision and has said that he is looking forward to working with Dhruv Vikram, who is one of the most promising young actors in Tamil cinema.
