The movie started rolling with a pooja function in March 2023 and was expected to have its major location at Chettikulangara in Mavelikara3According to the reports, the movie makers have approached a popular south Indian heroine for the female lead role3 The movie also features actors like Vishnu Unnikrishnan, Binu Adimali, Jaffer Idukki, Vijayan Pillai, Mohan Jose and Sudhi Kollam in supporting roles4
However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdowns and restrictions, the movie faced several delays in its shooting and post-production. The makers were initially planning to release the movie in theatres, but later decided to opt for a direct OTT release, considering the uncertain situation of the cinema industry5
The movie is now all set to premiere on Disney+ Hotstar on a yet-to-be-announced date. This will be Dileep’s second direct OTT release after Keshu Ee Veedinte Nadhan, which was released on the same platform on December 31, 2021. Keshu Ee Veedinte Nadhan was a comedy drama film directed by Nadirshah, in which Dileep played a 60-year-old driving tutor who wins a lottery worth crores6
D149 is expected to be a family entertainer with elements of comedy, romance and drama. The title of the movie is said to be derived from the fact that it is Dileep’s 149th film as an actor7 The fans of Dileep are eagerly waiting for the movie to stream online and witness his performance in a different avatar.
