The much-awaited action spy thriller ‘Agent’, starring Akhil Akkineni and Mammootty in the lead roles, is all set to stream on SonyLIV from 29 September 2023. The film, which was released in theatres on 28 April 2023, will be available for the digital audience in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam languages.
‘Agent’ is directed by Surender Reddy and written by Vakkantham Vamsi. The film also features Dino Morea, Sakshi Vaidya and Vikramjeet Virk in pivotal roles. The film marks the debut of Vaidya and Morea in Telugu cinema. The film is produced by Anil Sunkara, Rambrahmam Sunkara, Ajay Sunkara and Pathi Deepa Reddy under the banners of AK Entertainments and Surender 2 Cinema. The film has music composed by Hiphop Tamizha and Bheems Ceciroleo, while the cinematography is handled by Rasool Ellore and George C. Williams. The film is edited by Naveen Nooli.
‘Agent’ follows the story of a young man (Akhil Akkineni) who is recruited by a secret intelligence agency to stop a global terrorist threat. He is mentored by a veteran agent (Mammootty) who trains him to become a lethal weapon. The film is filled with high-octane action sequences, exotic locations and thrilling twists.
‘Agent’ was initially scheduled for a release on 24 December 2021 , but the film’s production was heavily delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The film finally hit the screens on 28 April 2023 and received mixed to negative reviews from critics. The critics praised the action sequences and the cast performances, but criticised the screenwriting, soundtrack and VFX. The film also faced competition from other big releases like ‘RRR’, ‘Pushpa’ and ‘KGF: Chapter 2’.
