Apple Shifts ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ Theatrical Release to Worldwide

Apple and Paramount Pictures have announced that Martin Scorsese’s upcoming feature film, Killers of the Flower Moon, will be released in theaters globally on October 20, before streaming on Apple TV+ at a later date. The film, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro, is based on the acclaimed novel of the same name by David Grann, and tells the story of a series of murders that overshadowed the prosperity of Osage County in the 1920s.

The film was originally planned to have a limited release on October 6, before going wide on October 20. However, Apple has decided to skip the limited release and go for a wide global release on the same date. The film will also be available in IMAX theaters worldwide, as Scorsese’s images and sound have been remastered to fit the immersive format.

Killers of the Flower Moon Trailer

Killers of the Flower Moon is one of the most anticipated films of the year, as it marks the first collaboration between Scorsese and DiCaprio since 2013’s The Wolf of Wall Street, and the first between Scorsese and De Niro since 1995’s Casino. The film also features Lily Gladstone, Jesse Plemons, Cara Jade Myers, JaNae Collins, Jillian Dion, and Tantoo Cardinal in supporting roles.

The film is an Apple Studios production in conjunction with Scott Free Productions, and is produced by Scorsese, Kevin Walsh, Mark Huffam and Phoenix, with Michael Pruss and Aidan Elliott serving as executive producers.

Apple TV+ has also revealed the key art for the film, which shows DiCaprio and Gladstone in a tense embrace against a dark background. The poster also features the tagline “The sins of our past never die.”

Apple TV+ is also gearing up for another historical epic from Ridley Scott, Napoleon, which stars Joaquin Phoenix as the French emperor and military leader. The film is described as an original and personal look at Napoleon’s rise to power through the lens of his addictive and volatile relationship with his wife and one true love, Josephine, played by Vanessa Kirby. The film is scheduled to be released in theaters in the United States and the United Kingdom on November 22, 2023, by Sony Pictures Releasing, before streaming on Apple TV+ at a later date.
