The Black Phone, the horror film based on the short story by Joe Hill, was a huge hit when it was released in 2022. The film, directed by Scott Derrickson and starring Ethan Hawke, Mason Thames and Madeleine McGraw, followed the terrifying ordeal of a 13-year-old boy who was kidnapped by a serial killer and trapped in a soundproof basement. There, he received calls from a disconnected phone that connected him to the killer’s previous victims, who helped him plan his escape.
Now, fans of the film can look forward to a sequel that will continue the story of Finney Blake and his sister Gwen, who have psychic abilities. The Black Phone 2 is set to be released on June 27, 2025, and will be available for streaming on Netflix India.
According to the official synopsis, The Black Phone 2 will explore the aftermath of Finney’s traumatic experience and how it affects his relationship with his family and friends. He will also discover that he has inherited a new power from the black phone: the ability to communicate with the dead. However, this power comes with a price, as he will have to face a new threat that is linked to his past.
The Black Phone 2 will feature the return of the original cast members, as well as some new additions. Ethan Hawke will reprise his role as the Grabber, the twisted killer who tormented Finney. Mason Thames will play Finney Blake, the brave and clever protagonist who survived the Grabber’s trap. Madeleine McGraw will play Gwen Blake, Finney’s sister who has prophetic dreams. Jeremy Davies will play Terrence, Finney’s abusive and alcoholic father. James Ransone will play Max, Finney’s friend and mentor.
The new cast members include Jessica Chastain as Dr. Alice Walker, a psychologist who tries to help Finney cope with his trauma. Michael Fassbender as Detective John Carter, a new partner for Detective Wright who is assigned to investigate the Grabber’s case. Millie Bobby Brown as Lucy Jones, a new friend for Finney who shares his interest in horror movies. Finn Wolfhard as Danny Jones, Lucy’s brother who is obsessed with the paranormal.
The Black Phone 2 is expected to be another thrilling and suspenseful ride that will keep the viewers on the edge of their seats. The film will also delve deeper into the mythology of the black phone and its connection to the supernatural world.
