BREAKING: A new ‘PRISON BREAK’ series is in the works at Hulu, set in the same universe as the original, but without the original characters.
Hulu has announced that it is developing a new series based on the popular Fox drama Prison Break, which ran for five seasons from 2005 to 2017. The new series will be set in the same world as the original, but will feature a new cast of characters and a new storyline.
The original Prison Break followed the exploits of Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller), a structural engineer who deliberately got himself incarcerated in a maximum-security prison to help his brother Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) escape death row. Along the way, they uncovered a vast conspiracy involving a shadowy organization known as The Company. The series was praised for its thrilling plot twists, action sequences, and ensemble cast.
The new series will be executive produced by Paul Scheuring, the creator of the original series, along with Matt Olmstead, Kevin Hooks, Marty Adelstein, Dawn Parouse, Neal H. Moritz, and Brett Ratner. The showrunner and the writers have not been revealed yet, nor have any details about the plot or the characters.
Hulu has not announced a release date for the new series, but it is expected to premiere sometime in 2024. Fans of the original series can stream all five seasons on Hulu 1 or buy it as download on Apple TV, Google Play Movies, Amazon Video, Vudu, Microsoft Store
